For the 2008, NPS day events are getting shaped into a full-fledged learning festival for writers of all genres and spoken word artists of all levels!

From pentameter to publishing to film screenings to managing depression, Lyrics on the Lake presents a broad arsenal of tools for the development of every attendee. In fact, not only will NPS teams be encouraged to take stock of their skills and opportunities, but non-competing members will find it worthwhile to travel and participate in the series, as well.

For example, Festival attendees will enjoy a series called PenTactics, which offers instruction and insight on other areas of writing, to include children's books, screenplays and creative nonfiction.  

The 22nd Annual National Poetry Slam will be held in Madison, Wisconsin from August 3-9, 2008! Our entire community of writers, performance poets, artists, educators, business leaders, government officials, computer geeks, karaoke singers, pastry chefs, postal workers, dog groomers, third-graders, barristas, pageant queens, podiatrists, clergy, college students, drive-thru managers and even the “ladies who lunch” are ALL looking forward to having you here.

Yes … the poets are coming … and the City is ready for you.
